The work

Where the list is the product

Oftex is Spain's leading export consultancy, twenty years deep, helping Spanish manufacturers find buyers and distributors abroad. Every engagement produces the same deliverable: a list of the right companies in the target country, ready for the client to approach.

The list isn't a byproduct of the consulting work. The list IS the product. What clients pay for is the research underneath: who in France actually buys this product, what the wholesale channel looks like in Belgium, which Polish distributors are independent rather than vertically integrated.

When the research is the product, precision is the whole job.

Before Extruct

Briefs that don't fit a category tree

Export research is a category-free problem. The briefs that come in from Oftex's clients aren't queries against a known industry vertical. They're written in natural language, with exclusions and qualifications that no filter tree can capture.

Traditional databases (PitchBook, Crunchbase, sector compendia) offer keyword search and category browsing. Run a brief like the ones below against those tools and the result is either too broad (every door manufacturer in France) or too narrow (zero matches because the taxonomy doesn't exist).

  • Companies in France with revenue above €5M that manufacture accessories (handles, fittings, locks) for doors. Not door or window manufacturers.
  • Polish companies that distribute agricultural machinery manufactured by other companies, not their own production.
  • Distributors of premium spirits in Denmark, focused on B2B wholesale. Portfolios spanning multiple categories, not wine- or beer-only.
  • European wholesalers distributing third-party jams and fruit preserves to retail and foodservice across multiple countries, not manufacturers of their own brands.

Each brief used to mean half a day of analyst desk research.

What changed

April 2025

Oftex integrated Extruct's API directly into their service delivery. When a client brief comes in, it goes straight to Extruct's Deep Search, written in the same natural language the consultant would use. The agents evaluate around 757 candidate companies against the brief, score each for fit, and return a qualified list of 150+ matches.

The list goes to the client. The half-day of analyst desk research is now a working session. Fourteen months in, zero failed searches across 28,000+ operations. Extruct is the layer that turns Oftex's briefs into client deliverables, embedded at the API level rather than running alongside the workflow.

Our clients don't know the taxonomy of what they're looking for. They know their product and their target country. Extruct turns that into a qualified list.
